Inspire
Art activities I took part.
- The first activity I'm going to take part in is a painting using acrylic paint.
- The second activity I'm going to take part in is a Latin and ballroom dance workshop.
What inspired me.
I went to an open evening of a secondary school and visited their art department. The bold colours and the beautiful acrylic paint artwork inspired me to try some of my own.
The glorious underwater sceneries from BBC Blue Planet II TV documentary inspired me for my art topic.
A few weeks ago, one of our school teachers did a performance of Latin and ballroom dance. I was fascinated by the movements and the rhythm. So, I wanted to learn to dance like her.
My first acrylic painting.
My painting was an ocean background where sharks swimming above you. This was inspired by a scene I saw in BBC Blue Planet II TV documentary.
I used mainly three acrylic colors white, blue and black.
First I started with white as sunlight beam coming to the deep sea in the middle and kept blending blue as I went to the edges in circles, making the outer circles darker by blending black.
Once the background was dry, I painted the silhouettes of the sharks in black.
This is my final painting.
I’m really proud of my painting.
This is what I found inspiring
While I was painting, I found out how much different shades of colors I can make by gradually mixing them together. Also, the way I use the brush make a different effect.
I found it a bit hard to paint the silhouette of the sharks with the paint brush. I had to do it slowly and carefully.
This is my "African Warriors" painting that I created using the same method. I used a piece of card to create the arms, legs and patterns in black.
My first dancing workshop.
On the first section of the dance workshop, I learned basic steps of the ballroom dance called “Waltz”, which is a very graceful dance. I had to remember the steps, keep my posture and keep in time to the music.
Second dance I learned was the Latin dance called “Cha Cha Cha”. This was much faster and live than “Waltz”. I loved dancing “Cha Cha Cha”.
After the workshop, we got to perform our dancing to the school. I was awarded a trophy as the dancer with Latin moves.
This is what I found inspiring
I found inspiring how you can move your body differently to different types of music. It is really important to listen to the music and follow the rythm. I felt really happy when I danced. Especially when I won the trophy.
Other art activities I could take part in.
I would like to do more painting and artworks using different materials and mediums. Also, I would like to have a go at photography.
