Whiteknights Artists Studio Trail
During the summer, I was fortunate enough to visit an Art trail happening in Reading and one of the private view galleries was held near my school, by my school’s artists in residence.
One of the artists in residence was portrait artist Kristin Rawcliffe. She describes that her ‘practise involves sharing people’s stories and emotions through paint.’ I could really see this when looking at her paintings, and she has painted a variety of different people including NHS workers. She mainly works with oil paints, and I like the texture of the paint, and how she shows the texture of it. She sometimes paints in watercolour, and painted some postcards, one of which I collected.
There was also landscape artist Liz Mackereth at the exhibition. She describes that her main goal with her paintings is ‘for the viewer to experience the joy and calm of nature when looking at my work’. She likes to experiment with many types of media, most recently alcohol inks and brusho inks. The bright yet calming colours in her painting make them pleasing to look at, and make you feel calm too.
